man's best friend

Wednesday afternoon, Barry (Brandon's dad) called and said that his dad (Brandon's grandpa) was going to be traveling through Ponca City on Thursday and just spending one night. He asked if I would be able to drive the boys to Ponca City on Thursday to see their great grandpa! Well...how can you say no to that? Thursday morning, I packed us up and we headed to Ponca City! We went a bit earlier in the day and had lunch with Rae and Elia and then spent some time playing! We played at the church for awhile and the children's pastor set up his bounce house so the kids could get out some energy!

Then, just before dinner, we went to Papa and Noni's house. Uncle Tyler came for the evening as well and Maddox spent most of the night in the backyard with his uncle. They practiced casting fishing poles into the backyard pond and threw some rocks into the water too! Shhhh! Don't tell Papa!

With all the comotion in the yard Tyler's dog, Elvis, just HAD to get out and play! Maddox LOVES dogs and he really loved playing with Elvis. Tyler taught Maddox how to throw the ball so that Elvis would fetch and then Elvis ran laps around the yard while Maddox chased him! In the end I really think that Maddox wore out the dog. Before too long, Elvis was just trying to lay in the shade but Maddox would run up and tackle him, so Elvis eventually outsmarted Maddox by getting into the fish pond!! I guess he knew Maddox wouldn't follow him in there!!

I have to admit that after seeing Maddox play with Elvis it has, for the first time, opened up discussion about a possible Knight family dog in the future. Whadya think? He needs his own doggy doesn't he...???
If we do decide on a puppy of our own, we'll have to warm Ashtyn up to the idea first. He is a bit afraid of dogs...as you can see from his death grip around Papa's neck as Elvis ran free in the backyard.

I guess we'll see...

He SO needs his own doggie!!! And I'm sure Ash would come around if he was around the dog from a small puppy!

Dogs are great. We've had several. Poochie was my personal favorite but Dad would say the Bird dogs ... Erika, just remember that YOU will be the caretaker of the dog. Another kid without labor pains! And don't let anyone fool ya ... YOU Will be the one feeding, training, cleaning up after (especially if it throws up). Little dogs have little poops and big dogs ... well you know! Otherwise, I loved having dogs.

Go for it...But I agree with your mom....Get a dog that YOU would like because you will be the one that the goggie will see as the head of the pack...And they always strive to impress the head of the pack..! I think a small dog would be the best for you, and Ashtyn....;0)
