creative candy carrier

OK...so this bright idea of mine ended up costing more then those plastic pumpkin shaped trick-or-treat containers but it was fun and the boys are proud of their work! If you haven't noticed, today we made our very own candy carriers! I bought small gift bags along with halloween stickers, ribbon and craft paint. First, the boys decorated their bags with pumpkin, ghost and spider stickers!!

Then we brought out the orange, white and green paint colors and the boys decorated all the extra space on their bags. Well, Ash filled in extra space while Maddox painted the entire bag including painting over the stickers he had already decorated with!!

After the boys' paint dried, I removed the rope handles that came on the bags and replaced it with halloween themed ribbon printed with spiders and spider webs. I also wrote "trick-o-treat" and "happy halloween" on the bags! Aren't they cute!?! Maddox's is the red bag and Ashtyn's is the green one!!!

After we finished the bags we also tried on the boys' halloween costumes for the first time. I figured that at least Ashtyn's costume would need some altering and, in fact, it did. Maddox's costume fit perfectly but Ashtyn's was a bit too long in the legs. I hemmed them up and we're good to go! I can't wait to see them all dressed up next week!!

Homemade stuff by your kids is MUCH better then the store bought stuff! Every mommy knows THAT! That's why we keep all the tree ornaments they make at school and put them on the tree EVERY year!

Yep, right up til they start falling apart and then they stay in the Christmas tote so we can pull them out every year and say "remember when"...
