Yesterday seemed like any other normal day (as they all do at first). Ashtyn got up early and left for school excited for his day. I did notice when he was eating breakfast and getting dressed that he had a bit of a cough but it sounded dry and more like a tickle in his throat then anything serious so off to school he went. When I picked him up from school his cough sounded pretty much the same as it had that morning except now Ash also had a runny nose. I didn't think too much of it. As you remember seeing yesterday, the boys received their surprises from Gramma and Grampa in the mail and Ash and I played "barrel of monkeys" and laughed alot before naptime. Within 30 minutes (the time it took me to prep the boys for naps and actually get them to lay down) Ash started feeling a bit warm to me. I thought it was just because he was covered in his warm blanket and had on sweats and a sweatshirt. I shrugged it off. Unfortunately, when Ash woke up from his nap he was ON FIRE. I took his temperature and it was 102 degrees! I called Brandon and then the pediatrician right away. They saw him within the hour. It took one swab of his nose to find out that he has the H1N1 flu. NOOOOOOOO!!! We were very concered with the news but the doctor reassured us that there is nothing to worry about and that we had caught the sickness as early as we possibly could have. They prescribed Ash some meds and he had to wear a mask out of the doctor's office. They told us that unless one of us has the immune system of a horse that we will probably all get the flu. Bummer. Ash had a rough evening last night. He threw up alot and just laid on the sofa completely lathargic and staring at the ceiling. Finally, as he fell asleep last night, we got him to keep some tylenol and pedialite down which has helped him alot. This morning he is drinking juice, pedialite, has taken his prescription and tylenol and even ate some cheeze-it crackers! He's looking up! The bad news is, though, that Maddox woke up this morning with a fever of 101.3. NOOOOOOOO again!! I called the pediatrician and they are seeing him this afternoon to test him for the flu as well. I am spending my morning disinfecting every toy we own and washing all the bedding, pillows and blankets in our house. Hopefully we can stop this thing in its tracks.
I did notice something interesting this morning in the midst of all the sickness in our house, do you see it???? Here is Ashtyn with a fever...

and here is Maddox...
nothing slows Maddox down. Not even a fever of almost 102. That's Maddox for ya!
