lonely memory

Notice anything sorta "funny" about this video? Yep! That's right! My boys are sitting right next to each other and shoulder to shoulder are playing two completely separate games of memory! Huh!?!? It may seem odd to an outside eye that the boys aren't playing memory with each other but it didn't take us long to learn that EVERYONE has more fun if daddy plays a separate game of memory with each of the boys and that just happens to be easier to do at the same time! HA!! If we try to play a group game of memory then unfortunately we are interrupted with fights over whose turn it is, who "really" got that match and even how straight the cards stay lined up. (Can you guess which child even cares about that???) But as you can see, Brandon and the boys are having a calm and fun time playing memory "together", together being a loosely used term. How do my boys differ while playing nearly any board game but in this instance Memory inparticular??? Well, when Ash plays he follows the rules of the game strictly, of course. He keeps his memory cards lined up in straight rows and happily takes turns with daddy. Maddox, on the other hand, lines his cards up haphazardly across the floor and couldn't care less if they stay in the same spot from one turn to the next. Also, Maddox wants to win whatever the cost. While Ashtyn only wants to win if he ACTUALLY wins fair and square, Maddox requires a win. If Brandon turns over two matching cards, Maddox squeals and forces Brandon to turn the cards back over so that he can turn them over himself and get the match! Huh. My boys are polar opposites of one another...even during a simple evening game of memory.

Ash and Maddox are more Dad and Uncle Nathan every day Brandon was the competive one where Nathan made sure EVERYONE playe by the rules. Times change but every thing stays the same.

Brandon and Erika you both are doing great job raising your sons. I am proud of you both and Noni and I loved you dearly.

I think that it is great that you have learned how to "play" and keep peace at the same time...I wished we would have thought of that when our kids were little....!
