"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

short but sweet
The end of this week, the boys and I took a trip to Ponca City to visit family! First we spent the night at Elia's house! It's always so fun to see all the kids together. They really do get along so well and have alot of fun together. Sometimes they fight like brother and sister but they also get along like best friends! Rae and I were using the visit to do some decorating in her house and the first afternoon we were there I walked past the kitchen window and saw both Maddox and Elia just sitting on the ledge in front of Rae's porch...talking. I'm not sure what all they said but I know at one point I heard Maddox say "Well, I'm almost five..." so I'm sure whatever they were discussing was, of course, very important! I like to call them "BCF" Best Cousins Forever...
That night at Auntie Rae's house we made S'mores in the fireplace! Mmmmmmm! They were oh so good!

The next day Rae, Casey and I spent even more time decorating the house while the kids played and then later in the evening the boys went to spend the night with Noni while Rae and I had dinner with a wonderful friend at a wonderful restaurant!! Then this morning Rae, Elia and I got up early to go to some garage sales! With coffee and donuts in hand we hit the streets! We found some really good deals and found even more things we wanted but didn't buy! It was so much fun! We ended our visit with lunch at a little hamburger cafe that brought back memories of my youth. We've eaten there since we were teenagers and it was just as delicious as I remember it being ten years ago.
It's always good to visit Ponca City and even better to visit family and friends BUT it's always nice to be back home! The boys and I got home late this afternoon and at this moment I haven't unpacked, done a load of laundry or done much of anything for that matter. I'm just waiting out the evening with some TV time and anticipating sleeping in my own bed!

Which hamburger joint?
Happy Days Cafe...formerly Grand Cafe. It's changed owners since we moved but they've kept it exactly the same (besides the name). Even most of the same employees! SO GOOD!!!!
