"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

wet 'n wild
Friday, Maddox's school had Outdoor Fun Day!! The day had already been postponed due to weather so when the REAL day finally arrived Maddox was pretty excited!! He had SO MUCH energy Friday morning!! Ha!! I think he's ready!!

All of the Pre-K teachers had set up a variety of outdoor games and activities on the school's playground for the kids to participate in!! There was everything from a spray bottle center (sort of like water guns but...no guns!), a laundry center where the kids could pretend they were washing rags in a tub of water and then hang them on a clothes line, fingerpainting, sack races, bubbles, storytime under a tent and on and on and on!! There was tons to do!! I think the most popular HAD to be the station where the kids could squirt each other with water bottles!! The line was huge!! There were only a certain number of water bottles and so all the extra kids had to wait. Unfortunately, the high school student running the station wasn't sure if he was supposed to have a time limit so the first group of kids, of course, refused to give up their water bottles and just kept right on playing. I'm not a persistent person (in fact I never stand up for myself...) but once Maddox had been standing in line for a good solid 10 minutes and other kids had actually cut in line and gotten a water bottle before him I stepped in and made sure Maddox got his chance. There's something about seeing an injustice being done to your kids that brings out the "mama bear" in you!! Ha!! I stood up for Maddox quietly, of course, and simply found a teacher who could better explain the rules but Maddox finally did get his turn while learning patience all at the same time...

After getting soaked, Maddox wanted to do the duck races!! He found a couple of friends from his class who were already racing rubber duckies and other sea creatures and joined in!!

Then we tried out the "school painting" station. The kids weren't actually painting the school...they were just using paint brushes and buckets of water to pretend like they were painting!!
