"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

FROM "JUST LAUGH"
Over the last two weeks, the boys have missed five of ten days of school due to bad winter weather. That's practically unheard of in Oklahoma! Crazy! Well, while we've enjoyed the days off and (of course) playing in the snow, after the first few days at home cabin fever was definitely setting in. Just try to picture it...two grown-ups, two rowdy and energetic little boys and one very peppy puppy trapped inside 900 square feet for days and days on end! Oh my!! Brandon went to work some of those days but several of them his office was even closed due to the weather! Yikes! So we did all that we could do...we stocked up on snacks and frozen pizzas, rented movies and bunkered down for the long haul. We had our fun times but it didn't take too long before we were eager to get back to our normal routine and just spread out. Never is there a time that more proves the ol saying "Absense makes the heart grow fonder" then when you're trapped in your house with your own family! Ha!!!! :) Anyway, of all the members of our family I think I may have showed the most symptoms of cabin fever. While I personally love winter and would take snow every single day if it was just me at home, now that I'm a mom we live for outdoor weather! I think the cabin fever reared its ugly head in the most obvious way one evening when I was making dinner. Well, actually I had made the boys their chicken nuggets and then was reheating taco soup for myself and Brandon. I scooped Brandon's soup and heated it in the microwave and carried it to him on the sofa and then it was time to heat my own soup! I, yet again, scooped my soup into my bowl, covered it with a paper towel and started the microwave. I walked into the living room to talk with Brandon while my soup reheated and sorta lost track of time. A minute or two later I realized my soup was still heating and that I needed to "stir it mid-heat" as everyone knows you have to do! Ha!! So, I walked into the kitchen to stir my heating soup and when I opened the microwave door I realized...UGH!!!! The microwave was empty!! What!?!? Sort of baffled and trying to take it all in, I started looking around the kitchen and realized that my bowl of soup with paper towel still covering it was sitting right there on the counter! Duh! I forgot to put it in the microwave before I pushed start! Grrrrrrrr. At that point all I could do was laugh at myself and chalk it up to good ol' cabin fever! I wasn't too happy about waiting a little bit longer for my dinner but what can ya do...!?!? It made for a good laugh, that's for sure!!!!
