Last night we had Ashtyn's 7th birthday party!! Ashtyn chose a Sonic the Hedgehog themed party!! Ash had his friends Seth and Gray there, his cousin Elia, Maddox of course and one friend from school, Lainee. She has become Ashtyn's best friend at school this year!! When everyone first arrived we ate a yummy dinner of hot dogs, Papa Barry's beans (Mmmmm!!), Pizza, Salad, Fruits and Veggies!! Oh and Chips too!! The kids started off by playing a Sonic the Hedgehog video game, watching Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons and playing outside. Once we were done eating it was time for a game!! In honor of the Sonic the Hedgehog video game, where Sonic has to collect gold rings to win, we set up a photo scavenger hunt and split the kids up into two teams to collect 10 rings as fast as they could!! The winning team won a jump rope for each member of their team!! (Ashtyn's team won!!)
We also printed off some Sonic the Hedgehog coloring pages that the kids could come in and do when they were tired of being outside! I wasn't sure they would color them but they actually sat down and did it for awhile!
Gray had fun playing inside for most of the party! He's SO cute!
Then it was time for cake!! I was kind of disappointed that I didn't get to make Ashtyn's birthday cake this year. He wanted an ice cream cake and while I may be able to bake a cake an ice cream cake seemed like an entirely different level of work! So, instead, we just chose an ice cream cake from Wal-Mart and Ash was just as excited with that as anything else! Oh...and it saved me a TON of work and an extremely messy kitchen too!!
Then the moment Ashtyn had been waiting for...PRESENTS!!!! Ash made out like a bandit this year!! He got nearly everything on his list including Bakugans, Pokemons, a watch, a gift card to Game Stop, video games and what 7-year-old wouldn't be excited about cold hard cash!!
Grampa Mike & Gramma Pennie...this is Ashtyn's face when he opened your video game gift! It was EXACTLY what he wanted!
And Grampa Mike & Gramma Pennie...this is Ashtyn when he opened your card and saw the cash you sent too! As I type this he's actually at Game Stop right now with Brandon combining your money with the gift card he got and picking out the perfect Wii game to add to his growing collection!!
Ash had a great 7th birthday!! Thank you to everyone who came and everyone who sent cards and well wishes. I'm still having a hard time comprehending the fact that my first born baby boy is now SEVEN!! This morning he somehow even looked and acted older!! With a missing front tooth and his new wristwatch he just looks like a mini grown up. It brings a tear to my eye but I'm so proud at the same time!! Happy Birthday Ash!! Here's to another year of growing up and making tons of memories!! I love you!!
