sunshine 'n star wars

Last week, the boys and I had a very nice and relaxing afternoon in the backyard pool and on the deck! First we swam and then when I got out and said that I was going to sit under the patio umbrella and read, both Maddox and Ashtyn decided they wanted to join me! So, then we all sat in the shade and read while we dried off! The extreme summer heat of Oklahoma has hit us much earlier this year then it usually does. It seems like we've completely skipped spring and just jumped straight into the 110 degree heat of mid August...except it's not even July yet!! Yikes!! I am NOT looking forward to what late July and August will have in store for us! Ugh. Anyway, on this day it was still hot but a "cold front" (Ha!) had moved through the day before and so the highs were only in the mid 90's and believe it or not that made a big difference! We were actually able to be outside without feeling sick and almost dieing! Ha! 

Maddox was the first to get out of the pool and join me on the back deck with his Star Wars book. He was so cute and so funny as he read to me and I just had to video it! He takes this stuff VERY seriously, let me tell you, and if there's a person willing to listen he will explain ALL of it to them! Today, I was the lucky one and so I got an earful about all things Star Wars! I love that Star Wars hasn't been a fad for Maddox. He's been obsessed with Star Wars for years (and he's only 5!!) and his passion hasn't dwindled even a little bit! His collection of Star Wars books, toys, legos, costumes, weapons and even clothes continues to grow with nearly every trip to the store and Maddox's knowledge of all things Star Wars grows right along with it!

I love summer with my boys so so much!! One month has already passed and we only have about two months left before both my boys will be starting all day school!! Yikes!! We're soaking up ALL the summer and ALL the time we possibly can and we're making so many new memories along the way!!
