A few weeks ago Ashtyn had his initial orthodontic consultation. In the fall, when Ashtyn went for a teeth cleaning with his regular dentist he recommended to us that Ash see an orthodontist as soon as possible. Apparently, Ash has a really small mouth and really large teeth. That is not a good combo! When Ash's regular dentist referred us to the orthodontist's office we had no idea that they would recommend braces right away but that is exactly what happened. The orthodontist explained that if we nip this tooth situation in the bud Ash may not have to have as much work done later. They are calling this "Phase One"...I don't like to call it that because it makes it sound like a crazy big deal. So, after lots of x-rays and pictures and poking and prodding Ash will be getting braces on his top teeth only. After his appointment we met daddy at McDonald's for lunch to discuss all that the doctor had told us. It's hard to believe we have a child old enough for braces...
