"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

home on the range
My parents took their summer vacation to embark on a road trip for the ages! To kick off their trip, they drove from their home in Connecticut to Oklahoma to visit family. First, they went to Ponca City to see my sister and her family, then they went to Enid to visit my dad's mom and then they finally made their way to our house the day before the 4th of July. They stayed with us for a week and then parked their vehicle at the airport and boarded a flight to Peru to meet up with members of their church for a missions trip. Once their missions trip comes to an end they will fly back to Oklahoma, visit all of their Oklahoma family one more time and then finish off their trip by accompanying us to Florida for a portion of our vacation. Whew! They are troopers! That's quite a trip!
When Grampa Mike and Gramma Pennie arrived in Mustang my dad had big plans for my boys! He almost immediately went to Lowe's to buy supplies to build a "shooting range" in our backyard. I wasn't sure what my dad meant by "shooting range" but once he and the boys were finished building they had quite the cool set up in the backyard! They built a wall lined with foam that they could shoot into safely and they had put up ALL KINDS of targets! They lined up their lawn chairs, loaded all of the guns (all BB guns by the way...) and started shooting. They were out there for HOURS! And I'm not gonna lie, I got in on the action too! I'm not afraid to say that I may have hit a few bullseyes! Oh yes! I grew up shooting so I enjoy sitting outside and shooting guns whenever I can.
When your visit with grampa starts off with your very own shooting range and hours of shooting guns in the backyard you know it's going to be a great week! Especially when that week includes the 4th of July! I can't even imagine how much fun we're going to have!
