new rims

About a month ago, Ash had his annual eye check up and we realized that his prescription had changed...by a lot! When the nurse put up the first set of letters on the wall and asked Ash to read the top line he sat in silence for a moment, with a confused look on his face, and then said "You mean those dots??" Uh oh! I had no idea Ash's vision had changed so much! He's not one to complain and as they say, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Ash is the furthest thing from a squeaky wheel. Poor guy. When I asked him how long he hadn't been able to see he said awhile. He told me that towards the end of the school year he would just get up from his desk and move closer to the chalk board when he needed to see something. I felt like the worst mom ever! How could I not notice this!? Anyway, we had finally discovered that Ash was practically blind even with his glasses and the doctor wrote him a new prescription.

When we finally had the time to go to the glasses store we were hoping that they would simply be able to put new lenses in Ashtyn's old frames. He still loved his frames. Unfortunately, though, they were not able to do that and so we had to start over and choose new glasses from scratch. Ash pulled about 15 pairs of glasses off of the shelf, varying GREATLY in style and had them lined up trying pair after pair. He had a hard time deciding. We finally narrowed down his choices to a few pair and ultimately he chose these WAY TOO GROWN UP black rimmed glasses. He's growing up way too fast. And he's SO handsome.

So as not to feel left out Elia found herself some new glasses at the party store! Ha! I love my niece so much!
