Unfortunately, my nieces 7th birthday party was scheduled for the day of Icepocalypse 2013. We planned until the very last minute to try and make it to Ponca City for the party. We woke up before the sun, turned on the weather and watched, hoping that there would somehow be a way for us to make the drive. Just as we were about to make the decision not to drive to Ponca City my sister sent a text saying that the weather was just as bad in Ponca City and they were going to cancel the birthday party all together and reschedule for another day. We were VERY disappointed but also relieved that we wouldn't miss the party because of the ice.
We were stuck inside for the day and staying in our pajamas but still wanted to wish Elia a happy birthday. So we put together a short series of photos and ended with a video to tell Elia we were still thinking of her. This is the story we sent...

But the weather turned cold and rained ice down from the sky...
so your mom had to cancel your party and we were sad.
But we still want to wish you a HAPPY...
We may not have gotten to celebrate her 7th birthday with her but we hope Elia feels loved on her special day.
