ice age

A friend of mine posted on Facebook the other day that this proves that God has a sense of humor because the world leaders just met about this huge problem of global warming and now here we are with all this winter weather! HA! So true! If you haven't heard already (that is, if you don't live in Oklahoma) then you are hearing it now...we are having yet another ice storm! We had one back in 2000 and another in 2007 and here we are in 2010 with freezing rain falling from the sky! Not to mention the blizzard (by Oklahoma standards anyway) on Christmas Eve this year. The weatherman warned us back on Sunday that this storm was coming but, of course, back then we all went "uh-huh mr. weatherman...sure!" but as Thursday approached we all began to think "hmmm!? maybe mr. weatherman was right!" So, in a desperate scramble we have all been standing in long lines at the grocery store for bread and water (literally, they had nothing left) and the lines at Lowe's and Home Depot have been hours long for generators and de-icing supplies. Sometime in the middle of the night last night it began raining and this morning at 5:30AM I found out that Ashtyn's school had closed for the day. Now it's 8AM and this is our first of many "Ice Storm 2010" updates. Right now it's just sprinkling but the temps are dropping and they're saying we're still on track for some pretty bad weather. Icicles are already forming on the patio furniture, as you can see. We're just preparing for the worst but hoping for the best. I'm trying to do our laundry and run the dishwasher before (if) we lose power, just in case, and I'm hoping to get a shower before we're stuck in the dark!!! We'll keep you posted...
