you are my favorite teacher

This week was teacher appreciation week at school and so we decided to something special for Ashtyn's kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Reddick!! Ashtyn absolutely LOVES Mrs. Reddick (in fact, to be honest, I think he has a bit of a crush!) and she's been a great teacher for both Ashtyn and to us as Ashtyn's parents. Mrs. Reddick goes to our church and so it has been nice for Ashtyn's first teacher to not only be a great teacher but also a friend of mine! I actually sing praise and worship with her on Sunday mornings at our church! We have gone through alot this year with Ash in kindergarten. He started the year out as one of the youngest kids in his class and also a bit behind academically. Mrs. Reddick took the time to keep Ashtyn after school 2 days a week for some extra one-on-one tutoring and has even called me at home to talk me through her recommendaitons for Ashtyn's academic future. I almost cried in absolute joy when Brandon and I sat down with her at a particiularly difficult parent teacher conference (when we discussed whether Ashtyn should move onto first grade or repeat kindergarten) and Mrs. Reddick said "Go home and pray about it..." I mean, when will we ever have a teacher again that recommends prayer in decision making!?!? It was amazing!! Anyway, to show our thanks to Mrs. Reddick I took the boys shopping for some jewelry and a thank you card! Ashtyn wrote a special message to Mrs. Reddick inside the card and we wrapped the two necklaces and two pairs of earrings we got for her!! Ash took them to school today!! I haven't heard any feedback from Mrs. Reddick yet but I hope she enjoyed her little gift. It wasn't much but she really is appreciated!!!

You expressed amazement that your teacher would be so supportive ... I'm expressing amazement that a parent is so willing to express thanks to a teacher. Thank you for caring for your child so much that you support his teacher. I feel a tiny tweek of jealousy ... Keep up the great work as Mom!
