the boys are back in town

MY BOYS ARE HOME!!!! This past Wednesday, we dropped them off at Noni and Papa's house in Ponca City for a grandparent visit all by themselves!! Even though the boys were scheduled to be back home sometime early on Saturday I still wasn't too pumped about not having my boys at home for almost 3 days!! As much as a stay-at-home mom (or any mom for that matter!) says that she "needs a break" when it comes down to it and your kids are actually going somewhere without you, especially when it's overnight, there's just some motherly switch that goes off inside of you that doesn't want them to leave. I guess it's that mother hen instinct that needs all her chicks home and in order at the end of each day! Date night is one thing but three days kid free is something completely different! Regardless, the boys were going on vacation and so I packed them up and kissed them goodbye. Of course, the boys had a BLAST with Noni and Papa visiting a science museum and Chuck E Cheese in Wichita and also playing at Sun N Fun waterpark in Ponca!! I'll admit, too, that while the boys were gone Brandon and I had some fun of our own. Unfortunately, Brandon was kind of sick all week but we still managed to work in a couple of dinners out, a movie and some shopping! When Saturday morning rolled around though I was anxious for the boys to come back home! I swear, I felt like I was going on a first date or something with how many knots were in my stomach! I was even waiting by the front window, like a puppy waiting for his owner to come home, eagerly watching for Noni's car to pull up and my boys' smiling faces to come running up the lawn! My dream came true at about noon. I saw Noni's jeep in the drive way and went right to the front door and hugged my babies! They had many stories to tell and MANY happy meal toys to find a place for in their playroom! After the chaos had boiled down, though, we went swimming and rented a movie. Then after bathtime I heard a sound coming from the boys' bedroom that I had so badly missed the few days prior...playing! The boys had pulled out their super hero toys and boy themed castles and were battling in a pretend world! I was beaming! I filmed the boys from a dark hallway and am so glad I captured them playing together! Mommy is so happy you are home boys! I missed you very much!
