"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

broken bow or bust
Thursday morning we got up, finished packing and loaded up the van!! Then we headed out to Broken Bow, Oklahoma for a family get-a-way with some of Brandon's family!!

We had only been on the road about an hour when Ashtyn said "Mom, when the car hit a bump my straw hit my tooth and how it hurts really bad!" I turned around in my seat to see Ashtyn's tooth barely hanging on! I couldn't believe it! Ashtyn has had his FIRST loose tooth for over a month now and the tooth has slowly but surely gotten more and more loose over the weeks. Today, though, all it took was a sip from a straw and a bump in the road! So, Brandon pulled the car over right there on the highway and attempted to pull Ashtyn's tooth. The tooth was bleeding and Ashtyn was a bit nervous so he wasn't opening his mouth very wide making it hard for Brandon to get his big fingers into Ashtyn's little mouth. After a few unsuccessful tries, I got out of the car and gave the tooth my best pull and...TA DA!!!! I had a tiny white tooth in my hand and Ashtyn had a fresh hole in his mouth!! Ash was actually very very brave and never even cried!!
We had Ashtyn bite down on a beach towel until the bleeding stopped. Who would have known that that simple beach towel would be so important to us that day!! It pulled double duty!!
After just a few moments Ash was ready to show off his new big boy smile!! (And even more excited for the tooth fairy to visit that night!!)
We were once again on the road to Beavers Bend Lake and soon enough Maddox was snoozing...
Let's just say that to go to Broken Bow, OK you have to WANT to go to Broken Bow, OK!! It's in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!! I took some pics of the scenery along the way!! It may be secluded but it really is pretty!!

We thought maybe we were in trouble when we pulled into Broken Bow and the very first motel (very appropriately named "End of the Trail Motel") advertised in bright lights that it had "Heat and Air"! HA!!! Luckily we had rented a very nice cabin but Broken Bow was still quite a sight to be seen!!
Our cabin wasn't easy to find, to say the least, but it was well worth the hunt!! We kept laughing though as we drove back and forth searching for our cabin because printed clear as day in black and white on the directions printed from the cabin's website it said "You can't miss it!" HA HA!! Well, like I said, it was worth the hunt and once we found the cabin we were eager to explore! The cabin was absolutely beautiful with a full wrap around porch, two bedrooms, sleeping loft, fireplace, hot tub and firepit area!! We knew it was going to be a great weekend!!

Aunt Beck, Brandon's aunt, had gotten the boys a "Welcome to the Cabin" goody!! She put together each of the boys their very own tackle box with fishing lures and even some yummy candy to snack on while they fished!
