The only complaint I have for the day is the fact that we're half way through October, we're picking pumpkins and eating kettle corn and yet...look closely...WE'RE WEARING SHORTS!!!! It's just wrong. I'm so ready for full time fall weather.

She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

farm fantastic
This morning we took the boys on our annual visit to Orr Family Farm!! We usually only go once a year and that is in the fall. In addition to all the year round attractions at the farm, they also have a hayride, pumpkin patch and corn maze in the fall!! Fun!! So, today was the day!! The farm was extremely busy but we were able to squeeze in some photo ops with all the fall decorations.

Then we got right in line for the hayride. The tractor pulled hayride takes you to the pumpkin patch and corn maze and if you wait too long into the day the line for the hayride can take FOREVER! Which isn't good when you have two young boys...so learning our lesson from the past couple years we made sure we were one of the first families in line and aboard the very first trip to the patch!

Before we picked out our pumpkins we tackled the corn maze! Last year, we tried our hardest to complete the corn maze but we visited the farm on a Friday night and so before we even got half way through the maze it was almost completely dark outside and not only did that make it nearly impossible to continue but it also made the boys a bit scared. So we ended up having to turn back and exit back thru the entrance. So, this year, we were determined to beat the maze!!

WE DID IT!!!!!!!!
Throughout the maze there were several stations where you would rub one of your fingers on some chalk and stain each fingertip a different color. Then when you finished the maze you could look up your unique color combination on this board and get your days "fortune"!! It was kinda neat!!
Next stop...pumpkin patch!!!!
After choosing their pumpkins, we rode the hayride back to the farm and enjoyed some of the other attractions that Orr Family Farm has to offer!! They had added something new since the last time we visited and that was the giant tube slide!! The boys thought it was just awesome!!

We had a blast at the farm today!! The kids loved it all but mommy loved the freshly popped warm kettle corn that the farm only pops and sells during the fall season!! (Yet another reason we make fall our annual visit season...) Mmmmmm!! I can taste the kettle corn just thinking about it!! Good thing I still have some left...
