This weekend we went to Turner Falls Youth Camp for youth pastor retreat. Now, Brandon and I aren't youth pastors (far from it!) but Brandon works for the district and so often we go to events so that Brandon can run sound and video and this was one of those weekends. I tagged along to help with set-up, registration and just to let our kids play with Doug and Jill's kids! It was fun! We usually only see camp in the smack dab middle of the hot Oklahoma summer so it was a real treat to see it in the color changing beauty of fall! All the trees were orange and red, the air was chilly and it rained one morning! It was really nice! I teased the Oklahoma Youth Ministries secretary that it was sort of eery to arrive at camp and it be so quiet! There are usually 800 teenagers screaming, running and playing on every square inch of these grounds! Ha! But it was a very peaceful and restful weekend!
During the retreat all the youth pastors go bowling and so we took our family along for the fun! It was really cute when Maddox got super excited because he thought his feet were as big as daddies when he discovered that they both wear a size 11!! Ha!! It was sweet!!
Even though this weekend wasn't technically designed for us it was fun to get away, visit with friends (both that we see all the time and those we don't see very often) and just relax away from home! We roasted marshmallows and made smores, enjoyed great praise and worship and ate almost two full days worth of meals that I didn't have to cook! Now THAT'S a vacation!!!!
