stubborn lil' slugger

Almost two weeks ago the boys and I went to Ponca City for the weekend to help Auntie Rae and Uncle Casey decorate baby Noah's nursery!! It was alot of work but OH SO MUCH FUN!! We did the whole nursery in 2 1/2 days and that included two pretty big projects in the room!! Poor Rae, who is almost nine months pregnant now, had a hard time keeping up at times but she was a trooper and helped as much as she could!! It was a group effort and we finally got it done!!

First, we had to refinish the thrift store dresser that Rae and Casey had found for a mere $20!! Wowza!! What a deal!! Rae and Casey wanted Noah's room decorated in a baseball theme and so we came up with some really cute ideas. For the dresser, Casey stripped and sanded it and then we painted it an off white/cream color and stenciled baseball words on the fronts of each drawer in black. Rae also chose some very cute new knobs and pulls to put on the drawers.

The other BIG project we did for the nursery was create a faux antique baseball score board to hang over Noah's crib!! It turned out even better then I thought it would. I was SO nervous in the midst of the project. I've never made an antique scoreboard before so it was kind of an experiment but it turned out really good and it truly "makes" the nursery. Rae and Casey wanted a sort of old-school baseball look and I think the scoreboard pulled that theme together.

The nursery overall is very cute, calm and cozy. I think it'll be perfect for a baby boy to grow into and for mommy and daddy to rock their new little man to sleep at night.

We tried to combine decorative and function as much as we could! What baby's room doesn't need a few hooks!? These hooks are especially cute!!

On the wall below the large poster is a framed picture that Elia drew for her new baby brother!! She drew a baseball for him!!

OK...you've seen the painted dresser drawers and now here's a before and after of the completed dresser!! BEFORE, the dresser was...ummmmm, interesting. It was painted white and black and had lizards painted on the front of it. Yikes! But for $20 bucks we knew we could make it work!!

And here's the AFTER!!!! I have to say I'm pretty proud of us!! You would never even know this is the same dresser!! Go us!! We accessorized the dresser with a changing pad on top, a new lamp and baby photo frames and Noah Glen Johnson's initials in the window.

We also put a few buckets of balls on the floor next to the dresser. Each ball is signed by the ladies who attended Rae's baby shower. We also tied a shoe string around one of the bucket handles as a cute little extra!!

We used the other shoe string to tie around the fan pull!! Cute!! (and functional...!!!)

Well, they have the nursery now all Rae and Casey need is A BABY BOY!!!! Come on baby Noah!!!! Rae has been "going to deliver at any moment" for a couple of weeks now. Grrrrrrr. I literally packed my families suitcase almost a full week ago and we've been living out of it (in our own house...!!!) for DAYS!!!! I refuse to unpack though because I know as soon as I do Noah will be born at that very moment. Noah is already keeping us on our toes and he's not even here yet!! I think he got the "stubborn" gene from his mom!! Hehe!!
