This year, I thought it would be fun to let the boys do some of their own Christmas shopping. When my sisters and I were little my mom would do this with us and we always had so much fun! So, after school one day, I took the boys to the dollar store and let them choose gifts for each other, me and Brandon, their cousin Elia and their grandparents. They were so cute, each carrying around their own shopping basket and carefully choosing a gift for each person! They really took their time to pick out the perfect gift for everyone! The shopping was fun but when we got home and I let the boys wrap their gifts too the day got REALLY fun! Ha! The boys picked out their own wrapping paper (so, of course, we ended up with Spongebob paper...) and they each used their own roll of tape. They also wrapped in separate rooms so that they wouldn't see their gifts to each other. You wouldn't believe how excited they were!!
Both boys did a really good job of wrapping, but Maddox used WAY too much paper and tape for each gift. Ash got the hang of cutting out a piece of perfectly sized wrapping paper for each gift but Maddox just cut off a huge piece of paper and then rolled the gift up in it (no matter how small the gift...) until all the paper was used up and then wrapped the entire thing in tape. Let's just say people had quite a time opening their presents on Christmas morning...!!!
It must have been some pretty tough work wrapping gifts because about halfway through Maddox took his pants off...I seriously don't know if Maddox can do ANYTHING fully dressed!! Ha!!
After all the wrapping (and taping!) was done the boys stacked their gifts carefully under the Christmas tree!! They were so excited that I was worried we wouldn't make it to Christmas without them spilling the beans about what they had picked out for each person. But, they both did a wonderful job at keeping the secret and were so proud when everyone opened their gifts! I think I like this new tradition! We'll definitely be doing it again next year!
