half-n-half valentine

For Valentine's Day the boys each had a party in their classroom at school. Unfortunately, both of the boys parties were at the exact same time on the exact same day and so I had to split my time between them, but I was glad that I got to attend both and spend time with each of my boys! Before school, though, the boys woke to find a Valentine treat bag from mommy! Each of their bags were filled with sweet goodies and something special too...Ash got a bag of barbecue chips and Maddox got a bag of beef jerky! Ha! I know what my boys like!

That afternoon, I headed to the boys' school to party with them! First up, I went to Maddox's party! His teacher started the party with a little craft. She had taken a picture of each student wearing these GIANT heart shaped sunglasses and then let the kids frame them with foam heart shaped picture frames and then we decorated the frames with foam stickers. It was a cute idea!

Then we played a game. Maddox's teacher handed out a handful of conversation candy hearts to each student and then they had to stack them as high as they could without letting them fall over. I'm not gonna lie, Maddox was getting a bit TOO competitive and was beginning to get pretty mad when his "heart tower" would fall over...so, to avoid a scene, I decided to start eating the candy hearts instead! Ha! Maddox and I enjoyed THAT much better!

Then it was finally time for the best part of any party!! THE FOOD!! Maddox's class had a TON of snacks!! He ate grapes, strawberries, cheetos, cupcakes and baby carrotts!! Yummy!!

When Maddox sat down to eat his snack I had to sneak out and run down the hall to Ashtyn's classroom to attend the second half of his party. I missed them decorating cupcakes but arrived just in time for a sweet treat! In Ashtyn's class they were serving cookies and root beer floats! Mmmmmmm! Of course, in true Ashtyn form, he didn't want a root beer float but instead had a cup of just plain ol' root beer while he ate his cookie and then went back for JUST a scoop of ice cream to eat once his root beer was gone! I, on the other hand, helped myself to a root beer float!! And it was SO good!!

After eating, it was time for Ash to open his valentine bag! He was so exicted! Ash got tons of candy and tons of valentines! I think his favorite, though, was a special valentine from his teacher that simply said "I love the way you dance!" He was proud of that one!

As Ashtyn's party came to an end, we packed Ash up and then headed back to Maddox's classroom to pick him up and head home. When we got back to Maddox's room he had just opened all of his valentines and was super excited about all of the candy he got!

I love attending parties at the boys school! I have to admit that I miss the boys being in preschool because parents were invited to the school SO much more and I would be in their classroom almost every single week...now, though, they are growing up and so more of their school day is used for learning and less and less of it is devoted to parties. Bummer. So, I just have to soak up every moment I can and attend every single thing I'm invited to at the school. Time flies way too fast. Happy Valentines Day everyone!!
