"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

mama's boys
Now that Rae has a little boy of her own, I've been trying to prepare her for how easily a son can wrap a mama around his finger and get every little thing he wants! I don't even know how it happens but there's something about a mother and son relationship that causes a mom's heart to melt if her baby boy gives her that pouty frown and puppy dog eyes. We give in before we even know what is happening! Recently, Rae texted me and told me that baby Noah had been fussing and crying nonstop while Casey walked him around the house trying to calm him down. When nothing worked, Rae finally gave in and held Noah. She said it only took a minute for Noah to calm down and fall fast asleep once he was in his mommy's arms. I not only told her "I told you so" but went ahead and texted her back a picture of Maddox cuddled up next to me in MY bed fast asleep. Maddox was always that way as a baby and now here we are almost 6 years later and Maddox still fusses and fights sleep until he's in his mama's lap or in bed next to me and then he quickly calms down and falls into a deep, peaceful sleep. Boys!! They love their mama's and if we're all truly honest we love each and every second of it too!!
