"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

gray the great
About a week ago, my kids were able to have one last visit with Gray. We were all over at the Everaard house for a visit and my boys had been playing with Seth in another room of the house. Gray could hear the kids playing from his bed and asked his mom if they could come in. I thought it was a great idea. If that's what Grayson wants then that's what Grayson gets. I brought my boys in and they sat in the bed with Gray and watched part of a movie. It was one of the sweetest moments of all time. As my boys came into the bedroom, Gray opened his eyes and asked Maddox "if he was all better?" You see, the last time Gray had seen Maddox was the night Maddox fell and hurt his wrist and had to go to the emergency room. I couldn't believe Gray had remembered that and I was in even more shock to see a little boy fighting cancer asking his friend if his wrist was okay. There's certainly a lesson in there for all of us. When Gray asked if Maddox was okay, Maddox jumped up onto the bed and showed Gray his scar. It was hilarious, when after Gray saw Maddox's little scar he lifted his shirt to show Maddox his enormous scar AND feeding tube protruding from his belly!! Ha!! Boys...even at such a young age they can't help but compare scars and prove who's the tougher man!! Then the boys settled in for their movie. It wasn't but a few minutes into the movie when Gray was again concerned for his friends. I was trying to take as many pictures as possible when Gray told me that I needed to go get everyone a snack. He didn't ask and, in fact, he didn't even ask if anyone WANTED a snack...he just decided that everyone must be hungry and so ordered me to go get some cookies!! Ha!! That's Gray!! Always looking out for everyone else!! So sweet!! We didn't get to watch too much of the movie because soon after I took these pictures Gray got sick and we all had to leave the room but it was perfect while it lasted and a memory neither I nor my boys will ever forget.

Great memory to hold on to. Such a sweet picture of friends together.
I know it's going to be hard at first but these moments are what you, as well as Doug and Jill, need to hang onto....they will soon overshadow the memories of pain and sickness. Bless all of you~~praying for comfort.
