dadfest daredevils

Every year on Father's Day, our church holds an event called "Dadfest". I think the name is pretty self explanatory. They usually bring in a special speaker (the past couple of years we have had really funny comedians!!) and then after the morning service they serve a free lunch of grilled hot dogs, hamburgers and corn on the cob and have set up bouncy houses, electronic bull rides and a snow cone truck outside for the kids!! It's always alot of fun!! This year, they added to the festivities by passing out stick-on mustaches for everyone to put on as they walked thru the door!! Ha!! The boys thought it was pretty funny that they had "beards like daddy"!!

Maddox helped himself to BOTH a hamburger AND a hot dog...

while Ash stuck to his normal "grilling out" lunch of BBQ chips...he just doesn't know what he's missing!!

After lunch, Maddox was brave enough to tackle the mechanical bull. The operator told Maddox to hang on with one hand and keep one hand in the air but every time Maddox was about to fall off he would quickly grip the bull with both hands and regain his balance. While, yes, Maddox was doing a great job I think the operator was getting a bit anxious because there was a LONG line to get on the bull and so I'm fairly certain the operator was doing his best to actually BUCK Maddox off on purpose but Maddox wasn't going down without a fight!! Ha!! Can we say stubborn!?!?

After the bucking bull, both boys climbed to the top of the giant bouncy slide and made their way down. Maddox LOVED it and went back down many times!!

For the first time, this year, the church had brought in a climbing wall and to my surprise BOTH boys wanted to try it!! I was so proud!!

Maddox made it almost all the way to the top!!

Ash got a little nervous and on his first climb didn't go too high...but he didn't give up and gave the wall several more tries!! He eventually made it pretty far and was very proud of himself!! I was beyond proud of him too!!

We finished off the hot afternoon with a snow cone!! I love ordering snow cones with my boys. They're so funny!! They don't care what flavor of snow cone they get...all they care about is the COLOR!!!! We literally walked up to the snow cone truck and ordered "a blue and green snow cone"!! Ha!! I think the snow cone man must get that alot, though, because he didn't even bat an eye.

Father's Day was alot of fun!! There were no Sunday night services so we got to spend the night at home as a family. It was quiet and calm and we took naps. What  more could you ask for!?
