"STOLE MY HEART"

The weekend before Christmas we went to Ponca City to visit family. We spent one day with Aunt Rae, Uncle Casey and Elia and then went to Papa and Noni's house for a couple of nights. Noni had gotten down all of her Christmas decorations and put them up in her house. It looked beautiful, as always! As she was going through her decorations, she also found alot of mementos from different traditions she did with her boys when they were little. Among them were these three little Christmas pillows. They are red and white with a teddy bear dressed as a Christmas character printed on the front. She had them on the boys' beds upstairs. Before they went to sleep that first night of our visit, as Noni was laying with them, she explained that these pillows are "wishing pillows" and if you h0ld one while you lay in bed and then make a wish and fall asleep hugging the pillow your wish will come true! Both boys eagerly clutched a pillow and made their wish! They fell asleep pretty quickly. The weekend went by without anymore mention of the wishing pillows. We spent our time at Noni and Papa's house and then came home for Christmas. Noni and Papa came with us. Christmas morning we opened our gifts and then went to church. On the way home from church, from the very back of the van, Ashtyn suddenly GASPED!! I looked at him through my rear view mirror thinking maybe something was wrong. The look on his face, though, wasn't upset but instead very excited!! I asked him "what happened!?" After a morning of opening gifts and going to church as a family, Ashtyn suddenly realized something very important. He answered me from the backseat, "Mom! My wish came true! This WAS the best Christmas ever!" Oh...my...goodness...!!! My baby is so so SO sweet!! What 7-year-old do you know who holds a wishing pillow two nights before Christmas and wishes that we'll have the best Christmas ever and not for a toy or money or something else!? Ash has such a tender heart and each time I'm reminded of how sweet he truly is it melts my heart a little bit more.
