taking tenth

While Brandon and I were at a marriage retreat, hosted by our church, my sister and brother-in-law came to town to stay with the boys. The retreat was over a weekend that Ash had a Bible Quiz Tournament and so Auntie Rae had to take him. Rae is quite competitive (that's an understatement...) and so she was just a tad bit excited (that's an understatement too...) to take Ash to his meet! Rae texted me updates throughout the morning telling me how Ashtyn's team was doing and the team was doing great but the text I was MOST EXCITED to receive was the one telling me that Ash had gotten the 10th place overall quizzer in his age division!!!! Whoa!!!! GO ASH!!!! There are a lot of kids in Junior Bible Quiz so 10th place is a big deal!!!! We were so proud and also very sad we had missed it. Ashtyn's team took 2nd place overall. I'm so happy for Ash. I was beginning to get worried that we wouldn't find Ashtyn's "thing". We tried soccer. We tried gymnastics. And to be totally honest I'm not sure sports are his thing. I could be wrong and maybe one day he'll grow up to be an NFL quarterback or a major league baseball player...but for now Ash likes to avoid contact sports, anything that involves spinning and would much rather use his brain power to win awards! He's well on his way to being a master quizzer! I think we finally found his "thing".
