"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

carpet ball + boys = helmet required
Over Christmas, my entire family was sleeping in my sister's house! That's a total of 13 people in a 3 bedroom house! We actually fit quite nicely (better than you might think!) but during the day we still needed to get the kids out of the house for a couple of hours so they could release some energy and maybe even more importantly so all of us grown-ups could stay sane! Ha! One of the days, Rae had set it up where we could go up to the youth room at their church and play! We gathered a pile of empty boxes for the kids to color on and play in, they had carpet ball set up and Uncle Casey set up the bouncy house too! The kids had a blast and wore themselves out a bit! Hallelujah! Grampa Mike showed up to play for awhile and he, Maddox and Ash had quite the competitive game of carpet ball! Let's just say that some of the balls jumped the wall of the carpet ball luge hurtling at very high speeds across the youth room floor! I'm surprised (and relieved) that we didn't have any carpet ball injuries! Ha! There's nothing quite like make-shift creative play with family!
