"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

generation to generation
A historic moment happened just after Christmas, when my youngest sister's baby met Jill for the very first time. I can't imagine what it must be like for Jill to meet the baby of a girl who literally grew up in her youth group from junior high thru high school! It's true, life always comes full circle! It was beautiful to see Jill holding baby James. He was so content in her arms and snoozed so deeply that his little face was smooshed into her shoulder. Jill, herself, looked quite comfortable and at peace cuddling James. The house around us was in full chaos with all the other kids playing but for some reason the dining room table seemed to be on its own, in full peace, as we watched Jill hold a new generation. Life continues to teach me and remind me how beautiful it can be if I'll simply keep my eyes and heart open.
