"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

and the trophy goes to...
A few weeks ago Ash had his final sectional Junior Bible Quiz meet. We have had so much fun participating in Bible Quiz this year. I'm not saying that in a shocked "I never thought we could have fun doing this" sort of way...I'm saying it because for one, we really DID have a wonderful time, and two, Bible Quiz is just not something I ever considered getting involved in. I simply showed up to church one Sunday evening and another mom approached me asking if either of my boys would be interested in quizzing. Her team needed another member and she wanted to know if we wanted to give it a try. I was skeptical at first but asked the boys if they wanted to give it a shot. Maddox gave me a big fat NO! but Ash was super excited and very eager! I don't know why I hadn't thought of Bible Quiz for Ash before but he totally fits the mold and it's right up his alley! He's smart, loves to read and has a great memory! It's perfect for him!
At the last sectional meet, of the year, they announced not only the winners of the day's meet but also the year's overall team and individual winners. Ashtyn's team, The Quizzing Lizards, came in 2ND overall in our section for the year! We were so excited and, obviously, very very proud! The team got one trophy to share so we didn't get to bring one home but Ash was able to take his own photo with the team trophy. You can read the excitement ALL...OVER...HIS...FACE...!!! We were also excited to learn that the JBQ team that took first for the year only lost ONE MATCH and it was to US!! Watch out first place team, we're coming to get ya!
Now, we only have one more meet to look forward to in a couple of weeks. Ashtyn's team will be competing in the District Junior Bible Quiz competition. Teams from across the state will be there. We are looking forward to it but we're also kind of nervous. I know, win or lose, Ash will do awesome! Let the studying begin!
