"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

"It was a LONG day..."
As you must know by now...today was Ashtyn's first day of Kindergarten! My alarm went off before the sun came up (ugh!) and Ashtyn was awake soon after. Ash snuggled in on the sofa and watched disney cartoons while he ate his breakfast of toast and bacon!
Ashtyn didn't really like having to eat his breakfast a bit faster then normal but as soon as we were all dressed and he was able to put his backpack on he was getting excited! Oh! And Ash picked out this t-shirt for his first day of school!
We were ready a few minutes early and so Ash sat down to watch a few more minutes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse before we left...
For all the Kindergarten students, today was the only day parents were allowed to walk their kids to their classroom. Starting Monday we have to drop them off in the "car rider drop off area". I asked Ash to lead me to his classroom, because deep down I'm afraid he won't make it on his own, but he knew exactly where he was going. He only got a bit nervous when we turned to go down the first grade and kindergarten hallway and all the first grade students were sitting in the hallway. I convinced him, though, to walk past the "big kids" and we finally made it to his classroom door. There were already several students at tables in the room coloring and Ash went right in...
We picked Ashtyn up a few hours later and he was excited to show off his artwork and handwriting page! His first words were "it was a long day" but he seemed to really enjoy his class and he likes his teacher. He said that "Mrs. Reddick had to talk alot and then we got to play". He was a bit dissapointed because he didn't get to do the computer game center but I told him that I'm sure next week he'll get a turn! He had so much to say...
I'll just let Ash tell you about his first day of Kindergarten himself!! Take a look!!

LOLOLOLOL
Erika...that is to sweet!
He's his daddy's boy ... needs prompting to talk!!!!! (sorry brandon ... but it's true!)
Looks like he had a great first day! I can't wait to ask him all about it next week! :)
Gosh, he looks more and more like Brandon. He is adorable, brings back fond memories. When Caleb was in kindergarten he snuck out the door and started walking to school with kids from next door! Scared me half to death.
Ah buddy, you are so grown up! Your teacher will "hear" you, I promise. You are going to be one of favorites because you are so SWEET!!!, Love, Noni
