Last night we almost missed church due to an emergency room visit. It was a close call...way too close! After we ate dinner, Maddox was standing in the middle of the kitchen with his arms outstretched on either side of his body spinning in circles. He was just spinning and spinning and spinning saying "I'm getting bizzy! I'm getting bizzy!" (That's what he calls "dizzy"...) Brandon warned Maddox a couple of times that he "needed to stop or he was going to hurt himself" but, of course, Maddox shrugged him off saying "No I won't...!!!" and just kept right on spinning. Finally, Maddox stopped spinning and yelled "The whole room is spinning!" and then took off running into the living room. It all happened so fast. I was thinking in my mind "this isn't good...this isn't good..." but there was no time to react. Maddox ran full force straight into the front door and then basically bounced off, spun a full circle and planted his ear right into the corner of the coffee table as he fell to the floor!! I jumped from my seat at the kitchen table and ran to Maddox who was now face first on the carpet, holding the side of his head and wailing. I just knew that once I got over there I would find him gushing blood and have to drive to the ER. Thankfully, once I was able to get a good look at Maddox's wound it was only a small cut, but it did bleed quite a bit! He also had a pretty good sized bump behind his hear. Whew. I was thankful that his injuries were minimal but could also see how this could have gone very differently. We escaped a real injury! Maddox will forever be the boy who has to learn things the hard way and when it comes down to it he really isn't learning lessons anyway. I'm sure within a month, week or maybe even a day I will find Maddox spinning until he's dizzy, running full force with his eyes closed, jumping off of the swingset, doing flips in the trampoline or performing some other crazy stunt that no one else ever even thinks to try! But that's Maddox. Now who wants to place a bet on how long until Maddox actually does have to take another trip to the ER for stitches...!?!? Or maybe this time a broken bone!? Ha!!!!

I cant imagine how painful that must have been especially with such force and in such a sensitive area! Havent both boys now offically hurt themselves on your coffee table? I think the boys should have a bat and hurt the table for once HAHA
Sigh.....
Let's see ... if we add up the times he's been hurt since he's been born...then multiply that times 4...we might estimate how much money will be needed for medical bills for the next 15 years!
I'm just sayin...
Tiff, you're right! Both boys HAVE hurt themselves on our coffee table! And what's crazy is it doesn't even have sharp edges or anything! Sigh. After this incident Brandon said we should just get rid of all our furniture until the boys get older! Ha!! Then the house would just be one wide open space! I sorta agree!! Mom, I hate thinking about medical bills. Ugh. I know we'll have more injuries at some point in the future but this summer we need to space them out! No two people can get hurt in the same month! Ha! ;)
