"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

sad to see her go
Thursday morning came early. It was our last full day with Elia visiting and, I have to admit, I was sad to see her go home the next day. It was so much fun having her in the house and I love that my kids have the chance to be so close to their cousin just as I grew up so close to mine! Elia ate her breakfast on the back deck Thursday morning. I tried to take a picture of her before she noticed me but I didn't make it. It was so neat to see her eating out there. She was just sitting on the bench in complete silence, all by herself, looking out over the lawn and eating her bagel and cream cheese! Boys don't do that sort of thing! They just don't! Ha!
I didn't have any scheduled plans for Thursday but I knew we needed to get ready and get out of the house! The house was a wreck from all the playtime on Wednesday and I hadn't had time to clean up before bed because of church, so it was a disaster! Instead of cleaning, we got dressed and hit the road. Even as we loaded into the car I had no idea where we were headed! We drove to Yukon and ate at Chick-fil-A. You can't go wrong with Chick-fil-A! The kids love it AND there's a playground so after the kids eat they can play and play and play while I have some time to just sit in my booth and catch up on facebook on my phone! Chick-fil-A happens to be in the parking lot of Target so after lunch and some playtime we went to Target where I let the kids each pick out a drawing pad and then we headed home to do some art!
My boys are REALLY into drawing!! They draw scenes from movies, pictures of their favorite toys and even family protraits!!

We, of course, went swimming in the afternoon and then for dinner I made a kid friendly meal of personal po' boy pizzas, corn and cabbage salad!! Mmmmmm!! My mom used to make us mini pizzas out of english muffins when we were kids and so I thought this would be fun! I tried not to be offended, though, that this meal was not only a favorite with the kids but also with Brandon! Ha! Of all the things I made this week (from roast, to grilling out, to pasta...) Brandon prefered the finger food pizzas!! Oh well...they were REALLY good!!
I don't have any pictures from Friday but that morning we went to a movie in downtown OKC and then dropped Elia off with her mom. I was so sad to let her go but I know that her mom and dad were SO excited to have their baby girl back! Now we're gonna jump right into our summer schedule of vacation bible school, swimming, library story times, playdates at the park and too many more things to mention!! It's gonna be busy but it's gonna be so much fun!!
