"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

big bro
The boys LOVE when Seth comes over to play! I've said it before but it's worth saying again, Seth is not only their best friend but he is also their big brother. My friend Jill always says that "Seth was born to be a big brother" and while cancer may have taken Seth's biological brother far too early Seth has continued his big-brother-legacy with my boys. We are honored to have him as a member of our family.
Seth spends quite a bit of time at our house as do my boys at his house and the only thing that can make a swimming play date with Seth even better is the distant sound of the ice cream truck in our neighborhood. I don't know how kids hear the chimey songs of the ice cream truck from such a great distance! I can literally only hear the wind and the kids will be screaming that the "ICE CREAM TRUCK IS COMING!!!!" And they're always right!
The boys were quick to jump out of the pool, run through the gate into the front yard and wait for the ice cream truck to pass by. It wasn't long before they had ice cream in hand, happy as pie, sitting on the back deck, soaking wet eating their ice cream. This is the definition of summer!
