happy father's day

Father's Day at The Bridge is always exciting! They call the day "Dad Fest" and they really go all out. This year our special speaker was a comedian. He was hilarious!

After a side splitting service, we had lunch in the youth building. They served hot dogs, hamburgers and some absolutely DELICIOUS smoked corn on the cob! I'm not gonna lie, I devoured that yummy corn! I thought I should maybe feel self conscience about how I literally attacked my corn on the cob but it was just so good that I couldn't even think about that possibility of others staring at me! You know it must've been good when it's been over a month since Father's Day and I'm still thinking about it!

Once we were full, myself a little too full of corn, we headed outside to have some fun! First, the boys wanted to do wall climbing. Maddox gets more and more brave every time he does wall climbing. This time he made it all the way to the top!

If Ash wanted to, I think he COULD climb to the top of the wall (of course, I'm his mom so I am certain he can do anything and everything he wants!) but Ash is a way more cautious boy than his little brother and far more analytical and so prefers to only go up a few feet and then drop his little tootsies back to the ground. Safe and sound.

After wall climbing the boys got in line to ride the bull. This is always a hit! Unfortunately, when Ash fell off the bull he hit the side of the ring and his glasses fell off. He was pretty embarrassed and cried more because everyone was looking at him rather than because he was actually hurt. I hate when my boys feel embarrassment. I know it's part of growing up but I wish I could shield them from that feeling. I was proud of Ash for getting back up and walking away proud of his time on the bull!

Unfortunately, Father's Day always falls on a Sunday and so daddy has to work all day. We sure do appreciate and love him, though. He is the best daddy I could have ever hoped to have for my kids. He is attentive, fun and a perfect example of a hard worker. We love him with all of our hearts!
