bonding over bubbles

Towards the end of the school year the boys' school held an annual event called Super Kids Day! It's something all the kids look forward to every year and I can't blame them! I remember always being excited for days when you had no homework and just got to play games and be loud and have fun all day long! Who doesn't love that!? This year, for Super Kids Day, I volunteered to help with the "Bubble Blowing Station". Honestly, when I signed up to help I thought I would be working at a station with bubbles...soap bubbles...bubble blowing. But, in fact, I was signed up to help at a station where kids chewed up a piece of bubble gum and blew a bubble! It's not blowing soap bubbles with a plastic wand but it was still fun! AND I got to be inside instead of out in the hot sun all afternoon! Ha! I was hoping I would get to see my boys more than I did but unfortunately blowing bubbles with gum isn't a station that's a huge hit with the boys...but Maddox did come past my station at one point. He had just come from having his face painted! Go pokes!

I know as my boys get older there won't be as many opportunities for me to volunteer in their schools. Especially not for fun days like this. It seems like it is going way too fast but, for now, I'll take every opportunity I can get to participate in their lives. Even if that means I leave the school sticky from handling bubble gum all day!
