camp cousin 2013 day one

CAMP COUSIN 2013 was bound to be exciting!!!! We had a lot of big plans AND two babies and a pregnant lady in tow! Ha! After so many years of doing camp cousin we have learned that if there's one thing you can plan on it is most definitely a change in plans. Especially as more cousins are born and the weather seems to be hotter and hotter every year.

This year, we started camp cousin with a trip to Stillwater. Myself, my boys, my baby sister and her family drove from Mustang while my other sister and her kids drove up from Ponca city and we all met at Eskimo Joes for lunch. As Oklahoma State fans it's always exciting to visit Stillwater and browse through the Eskimo Joes gift shop for some new Cowboy's gear...but it's also just as exciting to indulge in a huge order of Eskimo Joes cheese fries with bacon and ranch! Mmmmmm!

After a delicious lunch (and some shopping too!) we went to the Wondertorium in Stillwater. This was our first time to visit the Wondertorium and we were very impressed. It is a small science/exploration children's museum and is all hands on. The staff is very nice too. Ash, right away, found a wooden puzzle on the wall where you had to duplicate the picture on the card. He loves this kind of stuff.

Right in the middle of the Wondertorium there was a giant tree house complete with fabric leaves, a slide and animal dress up clothes!

Water tables are always a huge hit not matter how old you are!

They used to have one of these at our science museum in Oklahoma City and my boys LOVE IT!!!! It is a series of tubes with air flowing through them and provided scarves and lightweight balls that you can push into the tubes at different points and watch them fly through the clear tunnels and pop out at different locations, sometimes raining down on you from high above. It is really cool and my boys played at this location for most of our visit.

Ash and Elia performed surgery on some poor soul...

while Noah found a prop blanky and child sized rocking chair and decided he was ready for a nap! Ha!

This station was hilarious! It had hundreds of golf balls attached to either end of a sliding bar through the center of the box, providing one end of the bar and one golf ball on either side of the box. By pushing the golf ball on your side of the box you slid the bar through the box lengthening the bar on the other side of the box and causing the golf ball on the other side to stand out further. The kids and their uncles seemed to have some sort of competition going on to see who could have the most balls pushed in on their side. Kids versus Uncles!

This wall was very cool and once Uncle Kevin and Ash found it they were hooked! The wall is a giant magnet board and each piece of provided pipe and hose is also magnetized so it will attach to the wall. You build your own maze and then release balls into it and watch it travel through the maze you created. There were times I thought Uncle Kevin was having more fun than the kids on this one! Ha!

Once we were finished in Stillwater, we drove to Ponca City to Aunt Rae's house. We were pretty worn out from a full day already but I'm glad we mustered up the energy to go to Rae's local YMCA for a community kids health and safety expo. There wasn't a lot to do but the climbing wall was awesome! Especially Maddox got a kick out of it! The kids also rode trikes and got some free goodies.

Camp Cousin 2013 is already down one day. This may be one of our most tiring weeks of the summer but it is also one of the funnest. And it goes by SO fast.
