barnyard boys

Maddox was supposed to have his 1st grade class field trip a bit earlier in the year but it had to be postponed due to bad weather. The field trip was rescheduled for the last week of school and we were excited to go! Now...I'm not gonna lie, school field trips aren't my favorite thing to volunteer for. I do, of course, because my kids want me to go...but there's something about trying to keep up with four 1st grade boys at a farm, all of whom have a very different idea of what we should be doing and what is fun and three out of four of whom are not your own children and therefore you have absolutely positively NO control over! Whew! It...is...exhausting! But the kids always have fun and I can endure it for them.

Maddox's class visited Orr Family Farm for their field trip. Each student wore their "barnyard" themed tees and we loaded the buses for a fun day. I drove my own car so that when the day was over I could take Maddox directly home instead of having to check him out at the school.

Feeding the goats was a lot of fun! Those goats were HUNGRY!!!!

Maddox truly did get grouped with some great boys for the day. Thankfully there were three moms in our group so between us we seemed to keep track of four very active boys! Ha!

When our long, fun day of play was over we started the drive home. We wren't in the car 10 minutes and Maddox was OUT! I guess that proves how much fun he had!

We LOVE to visit Orr Family Farm. It was a bit sad looking back at this visit as just one week later this year's massive tornado in Moore hit the farm destroying much of it and killing many of the animals. Thankfully, with the support of the community, the farm is rebuilding and they hope to be reopened for the fall season but it's very sad to see what the farm looked like on field trip day versus just mere days later. We can't wait for a rebuilt, stronger Orr Family Farm this fall! Hayride and pumpkin patch here we come!
