"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

When Ash attends his tween classes at the library Maddox and I busy ourselves with other fun things the library has to offer. The first week we sat at a table and read books...and then we discovered the checkers board! Maddox didn't know how to officially play checkers yet. He and brother had faked their way through some pretend games before but I was super excited to teach my baby how to really play the game. Maddox gets his competitive spirit from me and so anytime I can teach him some strategy and game play I'm more than happy to do it. I taught Maddox the rules of Checkers (he's a quick learner) and we started playing. I beat Maddox in the first game but then he legitimately beat me in round two! No joke! We only had time for two games so we're due for a rematch. I'm gonna have to up my game!
