"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

I need a volunteer
We don't get to go a lot but when we get the chance the boys and I love to attend story time at the library. Of all of the story times we have gone to, THIS day had to be one of our FAVORITES!!!! Now, I can't remember the story tellers name (I wish I could...) but she was amazing! She told stories in such an animated and sing-songy way that the parents were just as enthralled as the kids were. She just had one of those voices, ya know? I took my kindle thinking I would read while the boys enjoyed story time but ended up listening to all of the kids' stories instead! I loved it!
The last story that the story teller told required audience participation. There are four words in the English language that have never ceased to incite fear into my heart and soul..."I need a volunteer". AAAHHH!!!! I was relieved when the story teller chose a little girl from the front row but then my stomach dropped a bit when she asked the girls mom to come to the front too. OH NO!!!! As the story went on the story teller kept inviting up more kids and more moms...more kids and more moms...uh oh, I can see where this is going. Finally, toward the end of the story my time came. Dun dun dun. That's right folks...not only did I get to participate as a character in the story but I got to play the part of a SINGING ELEPHANT!!!! Oh good grief.
It wasn't my finest hour but it was pretty fun. At least the kids were laughing...and I think they were laughing with me not at me! Ha! At least that's what I'm telling myself! Oh the things we do for our children...
