"Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart. She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger. She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

tummy trouble
We've been going to our church in Mustang for almost 5 years, since Maddox was TWO, and still to this day he sometimes gets nervous to go to his class. It usually happens when he graduates into a new class and doesn't know his teachers as well. He eventually gets comfortable and is excited to go to church all over again but every now and then that "missing mommy" sadness and fear creeps back in and he'll have a rough Sunday or two.
Recently, Maddox had a Sunday when he started saying before we even left the house that he didn't want to go to children's church. I stayed positive, talking up his teachers and the music and anything else I could think of to try and get him excited. He didn't budge, though. When we arrived at church Maddox still didn't want to go to class and started complaining of a tummy ache. I thought it was just a tactic to stay with mommy so I made him go. Little did I know that by the time praise and worship was over I would receive a text saying I needed to come pick Maddox up...that he was sick. Poor baby. I picked him up from class and let him sit with me through the rest of service before we picked up brother. I hate it when you don't know for sure if your child has a tummy ache or just wants out of something. I feel bad for forcing him to go to class that morning but he didn't hold it against me. Ha! And I'm pretty sure he won't pretend to be sick to get out of children's church any time soon...he got pretty bored sitting in church with mommy.
