tween

Since the boys were babies I've loved taking them to the library to participate in all kinds of programs. When they were babies it was story and song time, when they were toddlers and small boys it was story time and craft classes and now Ashtyn has moved up to another class all together. We went to the library at the beginning of the summer to sign up for all of the programs they had going on to keep us busy until school started again and to my surprise Ash qualified to go to the "Tween" classes! What!?!? When did this happen!?!? The class was for 9-12 year olds. I was very excited to sign Ash up for something that is just his own but also very sad to think that he's old enough to go to class by himself. This is the first library class that we've participated in that mommies aren't welcome to stand at the back of the room and keep an eye on their little ones. Mommyhood is such a conflict of emotions. Pride and fear. Joy and worry. Love and heartbreak. Smiles and tears. It doesn't get easier as they get older. It actually gets more complicated and more difficult. Good grief!

When I dropped Ashtyn off at his first tween class I'm not ashamed to admit that I was THAT MOM who made her kid take a picture as he walked through the door. I'll be that mom dropping my kids off at their first day of 12th grade! Ha! If my kids won't stop growing up then I won't stop documenting every moment of it.
