we honor you

I love holiday services at church...and that includes the 4th of July service! This year, my mother in law was visiting the weekend our church did their 4th of July special so instead of attending second service, like I normally would, we attended third service. During the service there was a moment when the choir sang a montage of patriotic songs and throughout the music they had sections where each branch of the military was singled out and all those who had served or were serving in that branch and were attending that morning were asked to stand. With each group of service men and women who stood an applause erupted from the crowd around them. It gave me chills. What a beautiful morning to thank all of those men and women who have fought for our country and for our freedom. They are why we have such a wonderful time of celebration called Independence Day!

During children's church that morning the boys made paper craft windsocks. They were so cute! We hung them on the porch when we got home from church. I wish they could last forever!

We are SO looking forward to this week and to celebrating the 4th of July with our family. My parents are coming into town in a few days and Casey is bringing Elia and Noah to celebrate with us too! It's gonna be an awesome week!
