oh my heaven...look who's SEVEN

On June 26 my baby boy turned 7!!!! It's hard to even type those words. Seven years has gone by way too quickly. Maddox wanted a Minecraft themed birthday party this year. Minecraft was a bit of a tough theme because it is a relatively new video game and so there aren't many pre-made party decorations for sale. So what does a mom do when she's struggling to find themed party ideas? Hit up Pinterest!!!! I got many great ideas from the crafty site and I ended up using several of them.

I used the "Creeper" character from the Minecraft game in most of our decorations. He's pretty easy to recreate. First, we hung green balloons from the ceiling over the dining room table and drew the Creeper face on them with marker.

We did the same with some green cups and a black marker.

I also made Maddox's birthday cake into a Creeper face!

I put together goody bags for all of the party guests that looked like mini castles, put out a fruit and veggie tray and made mini square shaped brownies with toothpicks in them each containing a Minecraft flag!

I also put salad in individual serving cups with green forks!

I couldn't resist putting a baby pic of Maddox on the living room TV! He's such a cutie!

The kids swam for probably an hour before they started getting hungry. We had pizza.

Then it was back outside for more swimming and playing with the belly bumpers!

Maddox couldn't wait to blow out his candles and open presents! Happy Birthday Maddox!

Grampa Mike bought Maddox a ghillie suit this year! I didn't even know what that was until I saw it! Needless to say, Maddox was PUMPED!!!! Now we just have to wait until fall so he can actually use it in the woods.

The one thing I did find online that was Minecraft themed were these masks and ax. The kids had fun dressing up with them and having their pictures taken.

Like I said, I can't believe my BABY is 7!!!! I literally, for real remember the first time I left in the nursery at church. I have a mental picture of it like it was yesterday. Now here we are seven years later and I can't even express how fast it has gone. People always tell you it goes by quickly but until you're living it you truly have NO idea. Here's to another year with my wonderful boys...hopefully a slower year if at all possible.
