wild ride

My sister lives in Connecticut but she may as well live half way around the world. Even if she lived an hour away that would be too far! I miss her every single day and now that she has two little boys of her own it breaks my heart into a million more pieces to miss the every day moments with them. Every now and then I get a glimpse into the everyday thanks to FaceTime! What would we do without it?? When James was a baby or even sitting up on his own my sister would show him the phone and I would make silly faces until he smiled and laughed! Then when James starting crawling it was harder to get his attention. I would still get a few smiles and giggles but our chats definitely became shorter. Now, though, James is walking, running, climbing, talking...he's doing it all! Our most recent FaceTime sessions have been hilarious and a ton of fun! James now takes the phone from my sister (who is busy and preoccupied with her newest baby, Paul) and carries the phone around himself showing me around his house, showing me how he plays with his toys and taking me on a whirlwind ride! It's often blurry and I can't understand a thing James is saying but I wouldn't trade it for the world. James was even nice enough to let me talk to little brother on our last call. I cherish these calls with my sister and my nephews. It will never EVER compare to real life play dates but for now I enjoy every second of being whisked around my sister's living room in the hands of a tiny toddler, thrown on the floor when a more interesting toy enters James' line of sight and kissed (licking style!) by a one year old at the end of each call! It's truly priceless!
