So, like I said before, I don't know what it is about our family but we absolutely positively CANNOT go to Lowe's without finding yet another project to do around our house. (Ok, Ok...let me correct myself...we can't go to Lowe's without ME finding another project that I really really WANT done!!) Then I just flash a smile and say "Pleeeeeee-ase!?!?" and Brandon gives in!!! On our last trip to Ponca City, Glenda passed on to us a wood bench that has sentimental value to me and Brandon. It is the bench Brandon proposed to me on!! So, in an effort to find a place for our new, hand-me-down bench we had to reconfigure the backyard a bit. This past spring we had bought some adirondack chairs for the deck and we needed to find a new place for them so our bench could go in their place. Well...as we wandered around Lowe's it came to me, (aaaaaah! light from heaven shining down!) "We should make a firepit area off of the deck!!" Perfect!! We bought supplies and Brandon got to work...

She calls her family together within her inmost home to prepare them for being scattered abroad upon the face of the earth." Hugh Macmillan

Brandon and Erika sittin' in a tree...
Yesterday morning, Brandon found a turlte in the middle of the road on his way to the bank and so he picked it up and brought it home! The boys thought he was pretty cool but I'm not so sure the turtle thought the boys were so cool! HA!!! I think he was a bit traumatized...in fact, he maybe would have rather been left in the middle of the highway! HA!!!

I'm good at coming up with creative and decorating ideas for our home but Brandon is much better at visualizing the end product long before we get there. So, I have to trust Brandon and his vision and hope that in the end our visions come together and we both end up happy. Well, let me tell you, this vision definitely turned out better then I ever could have imagined!!! You'll see the results in a minute but first, before we could put our sentimental bench in its place on the deck Brandon had to do some touch up work to it. It hadn't been used in awhile and so was a bit unstable and needed a new paint job...

Finally, though, after alot of work in the hot summer heat the backyard was COMPLETE!!!! Yea!!!! Doesn't it look AWESOME!?!? Wow! I'm still speechless as I look at these pictures! Brandon has created yet another vision and completed it above and beyond our expectations! I can't wait to enjoy our outdoor space all summer long! I see lots of marshmallow roasting in our future!

The whole backyard looks great...new firepit zone, new bench, pool up! Awesome! Take a look!

and now you get to tell the boys a million times a day ... "don't throw the rocks!!!!!"
Have Fun!
Ya know...I thought of that this morning. Sigh. If it wasn't rocks I'm sure they would find something else to throw! Boys...
Maybe theyll decide to throw turtles!!!
Awwww that looks really good! When I first saw the pic I thought you were putting in a pond.
So It got me thinking....where id the Koi pond going? hmmmmmm HAHHAHA
A pond would be nice...BUT Brandon's parents have a pond and I don't know if I'm up for that kind of responsibility! Ha! Although, they are very nice! I love to sit next to my in-laws!
Mom, you were SO right! Pretty much everyday since we put all that rock down I have had to tell the boys not to pick up or throw the rocks! Then, once I told Maddox not to "throw" the rocks I caught him kicking them! Sigh. He always finds a loophole...
But what an awesome space you have, even if you have to pick up all the rocks before Bub mows!
