How dare you shush your child when they get overly excited during a movie
How dare you scold your son for dropping playdough on the floor
How dare you get your little one in trouble for sorting the laundry wrong
How dare you put your daughter in time out for using way too much toilet paper
How dare you punish your baby for emptying the hamper on the floor
How dare you scowl and not grin when your kids build a tent out of every blanket in their room
How dare you get angry when your kid eats their cornbread and won't touch their veggies
How dare you say no when your child asks to go to the park
How dare you say "move" when your son walks in front of the TV
How dare you forget that childhood is gone in a flash
How dare you lose memory of what it was like to be four, five or even nine
How dare you miss out on one single smile, one single laugh, one single kiss goodnight
How dare you complain when they wake you up at 6AM
How dare you sigh in frustration when your Saturday is spent at the zoo and not on the couch...
Just remember that life is but a withering flower, a passing cloud and a setting sun
It's here for a moment, shining, and without warning it can be gone
There are those who would do anything to have back a loud laugh
They would give anything for their child to scream in excitement
They would give anything to grin at their child struggling to make their own bed
Please take joy in the small things, don't pass up the chance to laugh
Instead of being quick to anger and correct just take a deep breath and make a memory
You don't know what tomorrow holds, it may be good but it may be bad
Please make the most of every minute
You don't want to look back with regret
Remember that you're blessed to have a healthy, rowdy, loud, awnry, cranky, troublesome, helpful, joyful, excited son or daughter
And don't forget that there is someone right around the corner who only wishes they could have awnry back...
