swimmin' with the fishes

The boys have acquired quite an obsession with piranhas!! Why, you are asking? Well, my dad (the boys' Grampa Mike) travels to Peru several times each year for missions trips! He has been doing this since my boys were little and the only way we can describe where Grampa Mike is is to give them some sort of description of what Peru looks like or how life is in Peru. If you just say "Grampa Mike is in Peru" they don't understand. So, early on, Grampa Mike and Gramma Pennie told the boys about the piranhas that live in the Amazon!! Of course, boys would find this super cool and they have clung to this description! Anytime Grampa Mike is out of the country we say "Grampa Mike is where the piranhas live" and they get all excited! When we go to the zoo they even ask to visit the aquarium section first so they can see the piranhas and think of Grampa Mike. Well, on Grampa Mike's most recent trip to Peru he brought back each of the grandkids a real life DRIED piranha!! Gift shops actually sell them!! They were once alive and then when they were caught they dried out the fish, whole, and then attached it to a wooden stand!! It's sorta freaky but the boys love them and they are now displayed on the shelf in their bedroom. This last weekend, when Ash and I were shopping for new jeans at Target, we walked past the toy section and there, sitting on the shelf, were pool toys shaped like giant  piranhas!!!! Wow!!!! Ash and I got so excited and just HAD to buy one!!!! The boys have already been swimming with their inflatable, sharp toothed piranha and as soon as we put our new piranha into the pool the boys begged us to take a picture of him and send it to Grampa Mike!! Of course, Grampa Mike was excited but sent back a message warning the boys to "be careful because piranhas like to nibble little boys toes..." Ha!! Anyway, I know this post seems sorta random but I never wanna forget the boys love for piranhas!! And their love and admiration for Grampa Mike!!
