welcome aboard

A couple weeks ago, Brandon had to run to his office at our church to grab a couple of things on his day off. As Brandon was about to walk out the door, Maddox begged to go along for the ride! Brandon agreed and they were off! Ashtyn and I stayed at home. When Brandon came home, with Maddox in tow, I knew there was a story to tell. The look on Brandon's face as he walked through the front door told me that something very funny had happened while they were gone! I immediately began begging to know what the funny story was! I had a feeling that it must have to do with Maddox...and boy was I right! While Brandon was in his office, Maddox was wandering in and out of the office and up and down the hallways of the church. That's when our pastor (and Brandon's boss) Pastor McNabb came walking down the hall and noticed that Maddox was at the office with daddy. In true pastor (and just plain 'ol nice guy form...) Pastor McNabb stopped to see how Maddox was doing and then slipped him a $1 bill! Maddox, of course, was excited and Brandon seeing what Pastor McNabb had just done began urging Maddox to say "thank you". Maddox thanked Pastor McNabb in a shy voice and then as pastor continued his walk down the hallway Maddox turned to Brandon and in the classic way-too-loud-Maddox-voice, Maddox said to Brandon "I WISH THAT MAN WOULD GIVE ME $10 DOLLARS!" Oh...my...goodness!! Immidiately, Brandon knew that Pastor McNabb had heard what Maddox said because he began laughing loudly in the hallway and then stepped back to Brandon's office to show that he thought Maddox was pretty stinkin' funny! I, on the other hand, was completely embarrassed as Brandon told me this whole story. And then I became even more embarrassed as Brandon told me that when Pastor McNabb stepped back into his office laughing he said to Maddox "You must have gotten that from your mother!?" Oh wow. Well, I guess nothing says "welcome to the staff at The Bridge" like an embarrassing moment between your boss and your 4-year-old!!
