FROM "just laugh"

Yesterday, I took the boys to their pediatrician for their annual wellness check-ups. We were actually nervous all morning about the appointment because I thought for sure Maddox needed a shot before Kindergarten. Yikes! Thankfully, when the doctor came into the room he eased all of our nerves by announcing that the boys are current on all of their shots and so no one needed any shots that day!! Woohoo!! The only vaccine the boys needed was their flu shot but luckily the doctor suggested we try the flu nose spray instead and so this years "flu shots" were a breeze! Maddox was a bit nervous for the nose spray but after watching Ash do it with no problem and no tears he was way braver. As part of the boys' wellness check up, the pediatrician always talks to Ash and Maddox about eating healthy and making good choices. (Pretty funny if you know how Ashtyn eats...) Maddox is a really good eater! He eats fruits, veggies and pretty much anything we put in front of him but, of course, he also likes junk food! What 5-year-old boy doesn't!?!? Ash on the other hand is an extremely picky eater and that is something I've discussed pretty extensively with our pediatrician. He always reassures me that as Ashtyn grows and develops his interest in a wider variety of foods will grow and that we simply have to keep offering him good choices and letting him make his own decisions. He says that Ash is healthy and that we just have to keep trying! Our pediatrician never misses an opportunity, though, to remind the boys what healthy food choices are and yesterday, in particular, he told the boys that McDonald's is OK to eat but NOT all the time! He said "McDonald's is for sometimes only!" Well...we found out yesterday afternoon just how seriously Maddox took the doctor's advice when Brandon took the boys to Wal-Mart to get some swimming pool supplies. Brandon told me when they got home that as they drove past McDonald's on the way to Wal-Mart Maddox said "Dad, the doctor said McDonald's isn't healthy...so we need to eat at Sonic!!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Oh how I love his logic!!
